The Calmbirth Program
The Calmbirth® course is a comprehensive 12-hour evidence-based childbirth education program designed to prepare you and your birth partner mentally, emotionally, and physically for labour and birth. It is delivered over a weekend or two consecutive weekends.
We always say that our Program goes from Head to Baby. Calmbirth® was the first childbirth education program in Australia to recognise the interrelationship between the mind and body connection in birth – the connection and power between a woman’s emotional state and the way her body responds in birth. Calmbirth® uses this mind-body connection to assist couples to replace the fear, stress and anxiety about giving birth with the knowledge and skills to birth their baby calmly, fearlessly, safely and confidently.
The course is designed to prepare you for all birth journeys, including:
Physiological (unmedicated) birth
Births using pain relief
Induction of labour
Assisted vaginal birth
Caesarean birth (planned or unplanned)
Rather than promoting one "right" way to give birth, Calmbirth® focuses on helping parents feel informed, confident, and adaptable.
Birth preparation is one of the most valuable things you can do during pregnancy.
The Calmbirth® program is suitable for first time or subsequent births; for couples who’ve had a previous challenging birth experience and would like their upcoming birth experience to be different. Calmbirth® embraces and accepts all pregnant couples regardless of their age, culture, socio-economic or sexual orientation.
